On June 4, 2026, the Scientific Library of the State Tax University became a platform for a large-scale professional discussion that brought together the library community from all corners of Ukraine. The university hosted a highly relevant webinar-workshop on the topic: «Universal Decimal Classification, Its Interaction with Artificial Intelligence and Automation of Library Systems: New Challenges».

Svitlana Yaroslavivna Tsymbaliuk, Director of the Scientific Library of STU, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. She focused on the key issues of the event and outlined the challenges facing modern libraries in the context of rapid digital transformation.

The main expert and speaker of the event was Valentyna Mykhailivna Muraviova – Head of the Department of Classification Systems at the State Scientific Institution «Ivan Fedorov Book Chamber of Ukraine». In her presentation, she thoroughly and professionally highlighted the specifics of interaction between the UDC classifier and artificial intelligence technologies, as well as modern automated library systems, outlining prospects for their further development.

The event demonstrated wide interest from the professional community:

  • 260 participants joined the work online;
  • about 20 specialists took part directly in the library hall;
  • representatives from all regions of Ukraine joined the discussion – from leading university centers to public libraries of local communities.

Modern communication tools allowed us to overcome distances and create an atmosphere of a unified professional community. The «Q&A» section aroused particular interest, turning into a meaningful discussion with the consideration of practical cases, current challenges, and prospects for implementing automation and artificial intelligence technologies in the library sphere.

We sincerely thank Ms. Valentyna Mykhailivna Muraviova for her valuable knowledge and professional experience, and all the participants for their activity, interest, and commitment to development. Together, we are shaping a modern library space and creating the library of the future!
