Keeping records of property and funds began in ancient times. Despite this, a stereotype still exists today that accounting is dull and monotonous work. In reality, no enterprise – from a small coffee shop to a major multinational corporation – can function without accounting and auditing.
A modern accountant is a highly qualified specialist who combines analytical thinking, attentiveness, responsibility, integrity, and the ability to work with large volumes of information. The auditor's profession is equally vital, as it ensures transparency in financial activities and strengthens trust in business.
Professionals in these fields are convinced that even when working with numbers, there is always room for a creative approach and out-of-the-box solutions.
Every year on July 16, Ukraine celebrates its professional holiday – the Accountant and Auditor's Day.
The history of this holiday is connected with several important milestones. It was on July 16, 1999, that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law of Ukraine «On Accounting and Financial Reporting in Ukraine» No. 996-XIV, which laid the foundation for the modern accounting system in our country.
In 2004, in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 662/2004 dated June 18, 2004, «On Accountant's Day», an official state professional holiday was established – Accountant's Day. Its introduction aimed to raise the prestige of the profession and recognize its significant contribution to the development of the country's economy. In April 2018, the holiday was renamed «Accountant and Auditor's Day», officially honoring representatives of the auditing profession as well.
The Scientific Library of the State Tax University extends its warmest congratulations to everyone involved in accounting, economic, and auditing activities.
