A guest lecture on the topic: "Regulation and Taxation of Crypto in Ukraine and the EU" was held at the State Tax University, delivered by Oleksandra Nikitina - international taxation expert and Kateryna Ryzhenkova - partner at "Klochkov and Partners", head of tax practice. Several Ukrainian universities joined the lecture online.
Experienced speakers interestingly, thoroughly, and clearly revealed this quite relevant, but complex and little-studied topic, shared information about current trends and features of cryptocurrency taxation in Ukraine and the world.
It was incredibly interesting, dynamic, and easy! In fact, the event itself is even difficult to call a lecture - it was a constant interaction with the audience, where the student youth showed high activity and genuine interest, trying to understand issues related to the circulation and taxation of cryptocurrency.
Oleksandra Nikitina explained the aspects of using cryptocurrency by counterparties of different statuses in an accessible, deep, objective way using practical examples, which interested the audience in an active thematic dialogue.
In addition, Oleksandra Nikitina offered students many interesting practical examples, during the solution of which she drew attention to the nuances and differences in the legislation of different countries, and features regarding taxation issues. The youth enthusiastically supported this lecture format and showed extraordinary activity and considerable interest, as well as a high level of knowledge in the tax field.
During the lecture, students learned what cryptocurrency and its types are, when the first bitcoin appeared, whether the circulation of cryptocurrency is legal, and what documents regulate the procedure for taxing such operations in Ukraine and the world. They also clarified the conditions of ownership, authorization rules, risks, and differences between "cold" and "hot" wallets, learned about global platforms for selling cryptocurrency and how dangerous they are, how crypto exchanges work, and what promising professions of the future, in the context of the lecture topic, are worth paying attention to.
As a result, the lecture-interaction was not only useful for students, but also practically interesting, filled with content and charged with positivity.
Finally, based on the results of activity during the event, Oleksandra Nikitina recognized five students, three of whom were invited to undergo an internship at an international law firm with the prospect of further employment, and two others received the opportunity to attend an international workshop for free to meet potential employers.
We thank Oleksandra Nikitina and Kateryna Ryzhenkova for their high professionalism and unconventional approach and look forward to new meetings!
